I draw from a wide array of influences and traditions, and work directly with my clients to create vibrant and bespoke outdoor spaces.
Whether I’m leaning toward whimsy or more contemplative designs, archaic or modern, a constant through line in my work is the strong sense of motion, rhythm, rhyme, color and play. Reclaimed and re-imagined material feature prominently, not only as an expression of environmental concern, but also as a source of creative challenge and aesthetic possibility.
A primary driver in my creative process has always been finding unexpected connections, harmonies, between styles, traditions or materials that feel far apart at first. Letting things sit in the mind and bubble up and connect on their own. The mixture is diverse at this point: centuries-old rural Madeiran footpaths, pixelated malfunctioning store signs, traditional Japanese courtyards, Incan linework, mismatched brick repairs, Mallorcan retaining walls, the graffiti in my own neighborhood. It’s all there, blending.
I love bringing these ideas into collaborations with my clients — we talk about the vision they have for their space, or their home, how they want it to function, to feel. Then we start integrating ideas, twists and turns, layering things in. It’s always an adventure.
Let’s make something together.
